Welcome to Linda Suzuki Art
Art has always been a part of my life but being a professional artist was always a dream that eluded me. After retiring from a fulfilling 30-year career as a high school art teacher, I started to paint for myself and that dream has become a reality. My studio is based in Merritt, BC, in the beautiful Nicola Valley.
My Work
I work in acrylic and watercolour, painting the landscapes of British Columbia's interior and Vancouver Island, as well as scenes inspired by travels with my family. My style is primarily graphic and expressive, though i occasionally explore abstraction. Through vibrant colour, texture, form, and movement, I try to capture not just the look of a place, but the impact I feel from it.
I always imagined that when I retired from teaching art, I'd simply step into a career as an artist, but life has a way of throwing you off your game. After the inability to create art for a year, we parked our RV at Nicola Lake where nature became my refuge. The ever -changing skies along with the shapes and textures of the landscape stirred something deep within me, giving me a new outlook. With a rekindled spirit, I started painting how I saw the world around me, a place of tranquil beauty and this style continues today.
